Prophetic Insight - 17th August, 2023

Following on from Part 1, Partnering With The Holy Spirit of God, I realised that living life under the power of my own steam was futile, and that if I was to truly succeed, I needed to get to know God on a much deeper level.

This began a journey through the bible with a very specific intent, to seek out the power and might of the Holy Spirit, in order to know Him in all His fullness, so that I could recognise, receive and rest in Him.

Many people speak about God and say that they believe, but when challenged by the highs and lows of life, very few actually do know Him and even fewer understand the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is referred to as he throughout scripture and is the third person in the Holy Trinity, together with God the Father and Jesus the Son; he is equal in power and different in presence.

The Holy Spirit is the personal presence of God, a guiding light and powerful force, who is always with us to comfort, instruct and lead us to safety, peace and fulfilment.

The Holy Spirit Cleanses, Sanctifies, Justifies & Renews

The Holy Spirit of God washes us, sanctifies us and justifies us from sin, as part of the process of rebirth and renewal, that we may become an offering acceptable to God (1 Corinthians 6:11 & Romans 15:16).

The Holy Spirit cleanses us, partly by transforming us by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2), as our old ways falls away and we become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Jesus saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:4-7).

John the Baptist's baptism was with water for repentance, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire is for rebirth, renewal and redemption.

The fire is symbolic of the purification that takes place as we are separated from our sin and become aligned with the Holy Spirit as opposed to the sinful desires of our flesh.

The Holy Spirit is God's Glorious Arm of Power

The Holy Spirit is a demonstration of God's glorious arm of power, which He sets amongst us to lead, clear the way and give us rest (Isaiah 63:11-14).

God's Holy Spirit also gives us power and authority to drive out demons, cure disease, proclaim the kingdom of God, be a witness, heal the sick and speak the word of God boldly (Luke 9:1-2 & Acts 1:8).

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7).

God speaks, acts and moves through us, through HIs Holy Spirit, causing waves to part, mountains to move and ways to be made where there is none, and when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we are overshadowed by the power of the Most High (Luke 1:35).

We come in weakness with great fear and trembling, our message and preaching are not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that the faith of others might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power (1Corinthians 2:3-5).

The Holy Spirit is The Advocate, Sent To Teach Us All Things

The Holy Spirit is the Advocate, he supports us, champions our cause and pleads our case on our behalf.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, sent by the Father, to teach us all things and to remind us of everything Jesus said and to testify (John 14:26, John 15:26).

When we are brought before rulers and authorities, we must not worry about how we will defend ourselves or what we will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach us at that time (Luke 12:11-12).

Jesus asked the Father to give us another advocate when he left this earth, to help us and be with us forever, and He gave us the Spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit.

The world cannot accept Jesus, because it neither sees him nor knows him, but his disciples know him, for he lives with them and in them (John 14:16-17), in the form of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Instructs Us & Puts Plans In Our Minds

God's Holy Spirit put the plans in Solomon's mind for the courts of the temple of the Lord and all the surrounding rooms and for the treasuries (1 Chronicles 28:12).

When the Holy Spirit comes into us, like when he raised Ezekiel to his feet and gave him instructions (Ezekiel 2:2 & 3:24) or when he told Philip to go to the chariot that the eunuch was sitting in and stay near it (Acts 8:29), this is for reasons that are beyond our immediate understanding, but that become apparent with the fullness of time.

This is why we must humble ourselves, as our ideas and intuitions are not ours, it is God’s guidance that comes to us and through us.

We do not achieve anything on our own, we are dependent and wholly reliant upon God, the Source and Creator of everything.

God gave His good Spirit to instruct us (Nehemiah 9:20), it is God that leads the way, we merely follow, we cannot take the credit and all the glory naturally goes back to the Source from where it came.

The Holy Spirit Warns Us

The Holy Spirit prophesies, warning us of things to come, and we hear Him, but oftentimes we do not take heed, yet later, we always regret not listening, when God's warning comes to pass.

The Holy Spirit spoke through David concerning Judas, who served as a guide for those who arrested Jesus (Acts 1:16).

God warned the Israelites by His Spirit through His prophets, to turn them back to His law (Nehemiah 9:30).

The Spirit clearly says that in later time some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons (1 Timothy 4:1), and we can see that happening everywhere.

We must not believe every spirit, we must test them; every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus, is not from God, this is the spirit of the antichrist (1 John 4:1-3).

The Holy Spirit Speaks To Us

The Holy Spirit speaks to us, his voice is wisdom and truth.

When the Holy Spirit speaks to us, a sense of peace comes over us, together with an inner knowing, clarity and alignment.

When we listen to the Holy Spirit, we know exactly what to do and where to go and he gives us prior notice of things such as when the Spirit told Peter that 3 men were looking for him (Acts 10:19).

I experience this all the time, when the Holy Spirit tells me who is messaging me before I've even looked at my phone, and who is going to call before the phone rings or what I must do and when.

This is a supernatural alignment that we need to become attenuated to, it is God going before us, setting everything up and clearing the path, ready for us to enter the promises He has for us.

The Holy Spirit Speaks Through Us

When the Spirit of the LORD spoke through David, it was the Holy Spirit's word that was on his tongue, not David's (2 Samuel 23:2).

Jesus told his disciples that they would be arrested on his account, but not to worry about what to say or how to say it, as they would be given what to say, for it would not be them speaking, but the Spirit of their Father speaking through them (Matthew 10:18-20).

We do not speak in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words (1 Corinthians 2:13).

When I write, I do not use my own words, and I do not think about what or how to write, there is a power that comes through me that envelopes me and writes on my behalf, I simply allow it to flow.

There is an ease, peace and grace that comes with allowing the Holy Spirit to lead, and we come to realise how futile, small and limited our previous way of living was.

The Holy Spirit Takes Us Away, Sends Us On Our Way & Keeps us From Going Places

The Holy Spirit is a powerful force that sends us on our way, keeps us from doing things and going places, urges us forward and compels us, and we can all testify to having experienced this.

When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing (Acts 8:39).

Barnabas and Saul were sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus (Acts 13:4).

Paul and his companions were kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the world in the province of Asia (Acts 16:6) and when they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to (Acts 16:7).

Compelled by the Spirit, Paul went to Jerusalem (Acts 20:22) and through the Spirit the disciples urged Paul not to go (Acts 21:4).

The Holy Spirit Moves Us To Follow God's Decrees

The Holy Spirit sets our minds on what the Spirit desires, not the flesh, bringing our fleshly desires under control for a higher purpose (Romans 8:5).

When the Holy Spirit leads, he leads us to the truth, the core of what and who we are, and he sets our minds on higher things.

We are called to walk by the Spirit, so that we will not gratify the desires of the flesh, but instead, to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:16 & 24).

We need the Holy Spirit, this is why God puts His Spirit in us and moves us to follow His decrees and be careful to keep His laws (Ezekiel 36:27).

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit (John 3:6), so by connecting with God's Holy Spirit, we are connecting with God Himself, and resisting the Holy Spirit is resisting God Himself.

The Holy Spirit Intercedes for us in Prayer

The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God (Romans 8:26-27).

It is God's will that the Holy Spirit helps us, and if the Spirit of God lives in us, we are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, and therefore, we belong to God (Romans 8:9).

When we pray, calling on God for help, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us on our behalf, our weakness is made perfect and the stirrings of our soul are brought to light.

Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he lives to intercede for them (Hebrews 7:25), but those without the Spirit of Christ do not belong to him (Romans 8:9).

These are deep concepts to understand, and one has to experience them to truly grasp the nature, power and richness of God's awesome power and saving grace.

We Must Not Quench or Grieve the Holy Spirit

We must not quench the Holy Spirit by putting out the fire that the Holy Spirit brings (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

The fire that the Holy Spirit brings is passion, purpose and power.

We must not quench the Holy Spirit fire because it needs to burn away all the dross, chaff and base metal in order to purify, perfect and position us.

We must not rebel and grieve God's Holy Spirit, lest he turn and become our enemy and fight against us Himself (Isaiah 63:10).

By allowing the Holy Spirit fire to ignite our innermost parts, we are connecting with the holy fire of God, as we are refined, rarefied and returned to Him.

Without God's Holy Spirit, We Can Do Nothing

God is the vine and we are the branches, if we remain in Him and Him in us, we will bear much fruit, apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5).

We must therefore seek first the kingdom and His righteousness, and from there, everything will be given to us as well (Matthew 6:33).

Without God's Holy Spirit, we can do nothing and if God is for us, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37).

And if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31).

God is the Creator and Source of all things, we must remember Him and draw close, praising and honouring Him for everything that we have and all that we are.

The Heritage of The Servants of The Lord

It is God who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work.

And it is God who created the destroyer to wreak havoc.

But no weapon forged against us will prevail, and we will refute every tongue that accuses us.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication from Him (Isaiah 54:17).

God is Sovereign and we are humbled, honoured and hastened in His presence, let us glorify His name and give thanks.
